Murder suspect arrested in Dickinson case

Remember the death of Laura Dickinson, where there was what seemed to me to be a rush to judgment about the violence of it all? Well, Pam Young posted a release this morning indicating that a suspect has been arrested. And then a visit to the AA News web site brings up this front page article, “Arrest made in death of student.”

The EMU press release doesn’t say much. Among other things, the AA News article reports:

  • The suspect is a 20 year old male who attended EMU and who did not live on campus.
  • The lab results came in yesterday (Friday) and they must have indicated something bad because the prosecutors went ahead and issued warrant to arrest this guy.
  • There’s some various meetings scheduled (one on Sunday, one for after break) to counsel students, to let them know what’s going on, etc.

This is what the EMU LiveJournal community has to say about it.
Needless to say, students still aren’t happy with how this is being addressed.

I still feel it’s a tragedy. Unfortunately, it’s not one we can simply forget about for the time being.

And again, many thoughts go out to the family, especially now.
