Mind-blowing and Intricate Laser Cut Paper Art by Eric Standley

Inspired by Gothic and Islamic architecture, those mind-blowing and intricate laser-cut paper art windows are created by Virginia-based artist and professor Eric Standley.

Received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art and the Savannah College of Art and Design, respectively. Standley work as an Associate Professor of Studio Art and the Foundations of Art and Design Coordinator for the School of Visual Arts at Virginia Tech. The artist said that he sleeps only on ‘rare occasions’ as some drawing process takes 2 months, in addition of about 30-hours of laser cutting process, then painstakingly hand-assembled each intricate art pieces after being rendered by the laser cutters.

After connecting and layering hundreds of intricate laser cut paper sheets, the result of every finished work is really unique amazing details.

He sleeps on rare occasions and dreams that with hard work and concentration he might one day become a modernist. He holds allegiance to a faith of his own construction, which is reinvented on a daily basis.

The artist’s secret of each mind-blowing paper sculpture stability is focused on creating curves and overlaps, in addition to the supporting papers near the edges.
