Ares Catcher - Download any web video
It can be irritating when we can't remember the key words to find a specific video on YouTube. The best solution is to download it, so we won't have to search for it again, but YouTube or other similar services do not provide the necessary functions. Fortunately, there are plenty of tools for downloading web videos and Ares Catcher is an excellent choice for this task. You can use it to browse through any web page and download online videos with a single click on a button.
The application is one hundred percent free and it can be installed swiftly on any computer, powered by a Windows operating system. You won't need any codecs or other similar tools. The program can be used right away and it will not impact your computer's performance in any way.
Ares Catcher is a lightweight web browser. The interface includes an address bar, where you may type or paste any URL. You can also find Back, Forward, Stop and Refresh buttons, which work the same way as in other browsers. If you visit a web page with a video on it, you may add the URL to a download list, located on the lower part of the interface. It is possible to add multiple URLs to the list and once you click a Download button, next to it, the software will start downloading the videos one by one.
The videos are converted automatically to MPEG format and stored in a folder on your hard drive, where you will also find the original .flv file. If you open Ares Catcher's options panel, you will be able to change the output path, set the program to delete the original file or import the converted video into iTunes. YouTube is not the only supported service of its kind. The software is capable of downloading videos from many other web sites. You can find a list of supported sites after clicking a button on the lower edge of the interface and you can import more handlers from the developer's web page.
