Hi everyone,
Happy Friday! I thought we could celebrate the arrival of the weekend with a little bubbly...
I received the following question from a reader named Joanna during last month's live chat:
Hi Michelle! What's a good hydrating toner that's like a base for moisturizers?
The answer? Champagne! Yes, seriously.
Champagne is a favorite toner of mine for its detoxifying properties and its ability to fight free radicals. It also contains a number of antioxidants thanks to the grapes used to make it. Additionally, the tartaric acid in champagne helps to lighten and even out skin's tone and texture. Here's what to do:
Champagne Toner
What you need: A small amount of champagne, a tiny dish and a cotton pad.
What to do: (Start with a clean face)
This toner is great for normal to oily skin, but I wouldn't recommend it for super-dry skin types. While it does contain less alcohol than most store-bought toners and astringents, it is still probably not hydrating enough for very dry skin.
(This isn't the only beverage you can use on your face – click here to learn about what you can do with lemonade.)
What are some other ways to feel fancy during your beauty routine?
Cheers!
P.S. You can check out the video I did on champagne skin care years ago here. : )

wow. great tip! i have to try it...
this is so awesome! i never knew you can use campagne for your face :) great tip michelle, thank you so much <3
It's crazy that this actually works. When Michelle first made the DIY Champagne Toner, I was skeptical at first, but when I tried it out, omg my skin felt so good. And it DOES take off a bunch of gunk off my face that I didn't know was still on!
does it work if we use fizzy water instead of champagne?
i would love to do this but i cant because im not allowed to even touch an alcoholic beverage
I bet the bubbles would feel nice on your skin :) Kind of tempting to just put anything from my pantry on my face as a mask or a facial product hahah!
WOW thats nice .......
hooray for emergency toner ideas :-)
cool !:) but does it still work with cheap champagne or that would be bad for the skin?
wow! thanks for the great tips! :)

wow, I didn't think champagne could be useful this way. I will sure try it
