Got home from vacation only to find my car broken into and my window broken.  So with little time, money and patience i was HIGHLY recommended to call up Jim over at AR Auto Glass.

Not only was he speedy, inexpensive and professorial, but he also makes house calls!  Yes, house calls.  He drove up 20 min after my call and replaced, vacuumed and cleaned my windows in under an hour. Now THAT is what i call service!

Here is the Skinny:
- Under $200
- Call to completion under an hour
- Will come to you (home or work)
- Cleaned all the broken glass

I hope i don't get my window broken again, but if i do, I will call Jim at AR Auto Glass without hesitation!

Needed a cheap side mirror for my 2001 VW golf. Dealership said it would be $250 Alvin's had it for $40

Living in the city with a car means everyone in a while, it is going to get damaged.  With that in mind, it is places like Alvin's Automotive Recycleing that makes it all the more easy.  Lots of parts at great prices, but bear in mind you have to find a garage to install it.

Don't worry, that is easy to do anywhere in their store location or on 14th and Van Ness.  Just pop in and ask around for prices and turn arouynd times.

Windows, doors, mirrors, seats etc

they have it all

OK, if you know me, i am the first to be down on a service, product or offering that does not live up to their rep.  So, that being said, i was presently surprised at the lovely experience i had at Mystic.

Here is the skinny:
  $30 men's cut
  $30 hot shave
$50 for Cut & Shave (30 min shave with all the trimmings!)

I had Shorty take care of me and he did my hair like the pro he is.  With no shaver in sight, he skillfully used a straight razor and my hair has never looked better.  I can tell you just how many complements i have had since my cut and after 3 weeks, it still looks great.  Straight razor is the way to go!

lets be clear about this, rarely i will wait for over 45 min to a unknown place much less a Chinese place.  That said, it was worth the wait.  That said, if you go for dinner, drop your friends off to sign up for a table as parking will drive you crazy.. or at least to drink. ;0)

Food suggestions: Dry fried chicken, Hot and sour soup, string beans and ask for extra fortune cookies!  However, i would pass on the Garlic noodles that you will see everyone ordering, i found to be very plain and in dire need of vinegar.

Most plates under $8 and you get a free plate of Kimchi, which oddly enough a Korean dish, but who cares as it is awesome.

Oh ya, go for the shrimp and leek steamed dumplings as it is 18 of those bad ass little suckers so it is a good deal. So for 4 hungry people and beer the bill came to under $15 per person.  Not bad for a good meal!

Simple to say, Tasty & Cheap.  Good Singapore food, but a little light on the flavor and spices.

Things to get:
- Curry noodles
- Half chicken

i know i know... Bay-view is not what i call the little hidden jewel of a neighborhood in SF.  But i have to say it is one which remindes me of what the Mission used to be like.  That is except for the crack, sexual harassment and quite possibly the run down houses.

That said, Ritual Gardens is a place of tranquility, history and a clear way to improve your living space.  Be that in or out of your house.  With plants, great snacks and classes of all colors, it is the kind of tranquility so infrequently found in this city.

Can i say, "Yummy" in Spanish?  Nope, but if that is what you are looking for in a place to watch a soccor match, inexspensive lunch or a free wi-fi place to work... then this is the place for you!

With new and tasty lunch specials every day, the cafe is a great place to avoid the usual food which consists of over breaded and under whelming sandwiches.

My fav is their wide selections of teas at only $1.50 and the AMAZING $5.95 Tuna Fish sandwich.  this is no mere snack with only a little flavor to distract one's palette, but it is filled with lettuce, tomato, onions and the tuna is a fresh mix of spices, relish and a bite of peppers to give it a riotous kick.

So kick back and enjoy a bevies while avoiding the world and enjoy a great cafe that puts other cafes to shame.

Oh ya, i almost forgot!  They have an amazing breakfast specials serves all day! from $6.95 benidicts and truely fluffy pancakes for only $2.50.  It is a cheap place to brab a quick brunch while watching a game and downing a couple of their happy hour beers at only $2!!!!!

How can you go wrong with a place that not only has a wide selection of of the hard to find, influential and with a owner who uses more hair jell than Sid Vicious, but with a far more perky personality.

With music, author visits and special kind of atmosphere it is a special place where you can either remissness about late night comic reads when you were a kid or wanting to get that graphic novel you have always wanted without some snot nosed brat giving you the stink eye.

Check out their events section of their site for music, parties and special guests.

Moonstar Restaurant

i know i know, when you go to a buffet you cant not expect top quality food or the kind of fair that you are used too.

That said, going to a all you can eat buffet is like babysitting your friend's kids.  It sounds like a fun thing to do, until you actually do it.  That is usually the time when you forget what it was like the last time you did it.

Anyway, i had a craving for variety, sushi and snacks and a buffet is the best place for that.  So off we went to Moonstar.

I have to say the service and teh staff was simply amazing, helpful and quite accomidating.  The food was freash and did not smell like anything was sitting around long.  The varity ranged from asian, japanese and LOTS of deserts.

the food was ok, but for a buffet it was not that bad.  We tried everything from the sushi, dim sum, freash shrimp and yes even the deserts.  We were not disappointed, but we did wish the food was a little less greesy. oh well.
