ISO Education Ambassadors

Indianapolis Symphony musicians are fanning out across the metropolitan area to strengthen school orchestra and band programs and to build lasting relationships with the schools and their music program directors.  This fall, at least thirteen school orchestras have been visited by ISO Education Ambassadors who have coached, given performances, and in some cases offered individual lessons.  So far, twenty-five ISO musicians are volunteering their time and expertise, and more will be joining up as we expand into the band programs.  The musicians are finding much happiness and satisfaction in passing on

ISO Musicians welcome new CEO to Indianapolis

Cleveland Orchestra leader to take the helm of the ISO

(Indianapolis, Ind.)  The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Musicians (ISO Musicians) announced today that they are pleased to welcome Gary Ginstling to the ISO as the organization’s new CEO.

“Gary Ginstling brings a unique set of qualifications to the ISO,” said Jerry Montgomery, who served on the search committee.  “Not only does he have major orchestra management experience, he also is a trained musician who has performed with American orchestras.  We are optimistic that under his leadership, the ISO will re-emerge as one of the nation’s leading orchestras.”

Montgomery also noted that Ginstling’s presence with the ISO and the community will be welcomed by the musicians, who hope he soon will begin the process of filling positions within management that have been vacant in recent months.

“Throughout the negotiations process last year, the ISO Musicians consistently advocated for an individual with national orchestral experience to provide assistance to the ISO,” Montgomery continued.  “Gary Ginstling’s experience in Cleveland, San Francisco and Berkeley will greatly benefit the ISO, and we are pleased he is bringing that expertise to Indianapolis.”

Two ISO Musicians served on the search committee that ultimately selected Ginstling:  Concertmaster Zach DePue and Hornist Jerry Montgomery.
