Tefillot HaBayit - Hebrew Institute of Riverdale - The Bayit

Tefillot HaBayit

Weekday Shacharit and Mincah/Maariv meet in Lower Level Bet Midrash unless there is a Bris or other special occasion.

Friday night there is one Tefilla in the Main Sanctuary.

Shabbat Morning Services

In addition to the main service at 8:30 am there are several Tefillot that meet every Shabbat or occasionally throughout the year.

Congregation Beth Aharon: The Sephardic Congregation of Riverdale

A participatory, friendly service with a blend of many different Sephardic cultures.  Shabbat morning at 8:30am in the 2nd Floor Beit Midrash.  Tefillot on all chagim.  Learn more here.

Tefillat Shalom Bayit

An early and intimate tefillah for those with other commitments later in the morning.  Lots of lay participation.  6:50am Shabbat mornings in the Lower Level Beit Midrash.

Tefillat Esther - Women's Tefillah of Riverdale

A tefillah led by and coordinated by women.  Meets monthly at 9:00am in the Lower Level Beit Midrash.  Many b'not mitzvah are celebrated in this tefillah.

Learning Service Tefillah

Led by Rabbi Moshe Edelman.  A service with explanations and open discussions about the prayers and Torah readings in a more intimate setting.  Meets monthly at 9:30am.  This is a growing, dynamic group, and everyone has something to gain from this tefillah.  Come give it a try!

Shabbat Mevarchim Tefillah

A lively, gently-paced davening to Reb Shlomo Carlebach’s melodies. Joyful and spirited, with healthy Kiddush food.  9:00am in the Lower Level Beit Midrash every month on the Shabbat preceding Rosh Chodesh.

Teen Tefillah

9:30am in Room 3-1 (Teen Lounge) - currently meets occasionally.  Chulent and kugel kiddushes, and a great opportunity for teens - male and female - to be involved in tefillah.  For more information contact Youth Director Menachem Menchel at menachem@thebayit.org.
