Since 2001, AlmaDL, the Digital Library Sector of the Documentary and Departmental Division, has offered technical and professional support to scholars and researchers of the University of Bologna, making electronic collections available online and providing digital repository and e-publishing services. In particular, AlmaDL Journals is the service dedicated to University of Bologna based open access journals. It helps the academic editorial teams of scientific journals publish online and open access. The journals are either newly digital born publications or the digital versions of traditional print serials that intend to exploit the Internet to spread their diffusion and increase their visibility at a more international scale.

IN_BO is a digital journal which involves the entire framework of disciplines for education of Engineers and Architects. This complex issue has been followed for many years at the University of Bologna, through the Architectural Engineering Degree course. The journal was founded with the aim to compare research experiences and studies regarded to different scientific fields, in particular, to knowledge and representation of landscape, cities and architecture. The intent is to turn a debate able to disseminate contents of current researchers, with the belief that every experience in the field of planning, urban design and architecture, can be an instrument for the promotion and development of quality, both in scientific and cultural production. IN_BO is a bilingual (Italian / English), open access e-journal and adopts a selection system based on peer-review. It is indexed in the major national databases and in the most prestigious international libraries.
