spacer Magdalen College is a tight-knit community of President, Fellows & Lecturers (the Senior Common Room), Staff, Graduate Students (the Middle Common Room) and Undergraduate Students (the Junior Common Room).

Amongst Fellows and Lecturers, Tutorial Fellows and Lecturers are responsible for providing tutorials to undergraduates across the wide array of subjects that Magdalen offers. Other types of Fellow include Fellows by Special Election, such as the Senior Tutor, and Junior Research Fellows, who hold positions offered to only two or three young people annually to carry out research at a postdoctoral level. Supernumerary Fellows and Honorary Fellows generally consist of senior, highly distinguished academics who further strengthen the Magdalen academic community. Finally, Emeritus Fellows are retired Fellows of the College, who continue to take an active part in Magdalen life.
