The Temple Isaiah Green Team has as its major purpose, the development of a keen sense of awareness that earth stewardship is our Jewish responsibility, that humankind's exploitation of this earth has brought us to a point where it can no longer sustain itself, and that earth-justice requires life style changes now for the sake of our children, grandchildren, and all those with whom we share and bequeath this planet. The Green Team focuses on educating and advocating on environmental issues, green activism, and creating green initiatives at Temple Isaiah and in the larger community.

Our activities include:

· Weekly articles in the Temple Isaiah On-Line Bulletin publicizing earth stewardship issues and advocacy needs and opportunities.

· Facilities greening, e.g. creating a recycling program at the temple and converting the Ner Tamid to solar power.

· Distributing specially designed reusable shopping bags and seed packets on Rosh Hashanah, offering Temple Isaiah Green Team coffee mugs, helping with Green Celebrations (Tu B’Shevat!), and developing synergy with outside environmental groups.

We usually meet on the third Thursday of the month. For more information, contact Steve Fox, at minusksf@aol.com, or 310-397-6611.

BE A HERO—GO ZERO spacer

Bring a reusable water bottle instead of a disposable one, or a reusable bag instead of plastic, or your own utensils or cloth napkins. Think of how you can save raw material, energy and landfill space, and set an example.

Plant. Teach. Seed.
Netiya is a Jewish network with interfaith partners that advances urban agriculture in synagogues, schools and other nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles. It cultivates gardens to tithe food to those who need it and organizes communities to seed a more just and resilient food system.
