Presentation

Conceptual models for objects or components, operating system services, or programming languages, are computing paradigms at different levels of abstraction that have been used in the aim to cope with the increasing complexity of real-time embedded systems. The highly competitive market to which these systems are to be deployed, have found in the definition of standards a way to improve quality, reduce the dependency and expenses in tools, and enhance the chances of the research community to contribute with proven approaches to industry. The success and the benefits of using standards rely on the size of the community that uses them and the improvements that this community pushes on them.

The separation of concerns and the abstractions in the definition of these standards must not only be useful for the management of complexity in the design of real time embedded system. They must also serve specially for the tasks of analysis, validation and verification, of functional as well as non-functional properties. Allowing for clarity and semantic alignment in the interaction between the different actors and tools involved in the development process.

Topics of interest for the workshop are all of those associated with the definition, evaluation, enhancement or exploitation of standards for modelling and computing at any level, and their interdependencies. Papers using/extending/implementing methodologies or tools for the design validation or verification of RTES based on modelling standards are encouraged. The main focus of the workshop is the identification of modelling constructs and usage styles that may lead to the better exploitation and/or evolution of the standards for the RTES domain in general.

Submission of papers

We encourage the submission of evaluation reports, position papers, extended abstracts, practical experiences, and innovative proposals describing the state-of-the-art, work-in-progress, and suggest open issues or resolutions for current or prospective standards.

Submissions can be in any format though IEEE double column is encouraged. They should be in four to eight pages including references and figures -- papers exceeding eight pages will not be reviewed. All submissions should be in PostScript (PS) or PDF.

Submission of the paper implies that should the paper be accepted, at least one of the authors will register and present the paper at the workshop. Submissions should be sent to the workshop organizers at sebastien.gerard@cea.fr and julio.medina@unican.es.
