Join your fellow climate professionals in beautiful San Luis Obispo for the first conference to focus solely on the practice of local and regional climate action planning in California. Hosted by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in partnership with the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research (OPR), the two-day conference will feature in-depth presentations and discussions on both technical and political facets of climate action planning. The conference will be held on the Cal Poly campus and will feature experts and practitioners from around the state.

Paul Wack, AICP has received the 2012 California Chapter American Planning Association Distinguished Service Award. Paul was nominated by a group of his former planning students from both the City and Regional Planning Department and the Environmental Studies Program at UC Santa Barbara the for his more than 40 years of service to the planning profession as a community planner, consultant, and educator. During his 34 years of teaching, nearly 20,000 students have taken his classes over the years, with a significant number becoming practicing planners. As stated in the nomination application: “His desire to further the planning profession through education, mentoring, community service, continuing professional practice, and sincere passion for his work is inspiring to his students and long- standing practicing planners alike. The example he sets for so many young planners is one that deserves to be recognized and celebrated”.
Cal Poly teams with participants from planning, architecture, landscape architecture, construction management and business form multidisciplinary teams every year to compete in the callenge.
