Join Junkies Nation in helping our walker get ready for her walk to help Fight Breast Cancer through the Avon Foundation. Junkies Nation is proud to be part of the fight against breast cancer and we hope that you join us with a small donation.
Our walker is committed to participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. It’s a big commitment, one that will require me to spend the next several months training and fundraising. But breast cancer is a big disease, one that still affects far too many people, and she is determined to do everything she can to help put an end to it.
This walk is being dedicated to her mother, a breast cancer survivor.
The money she raises will be managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade to help provide access to care for those who most need it, fund educational programs, and accelerate research into new treatments and potential cures. She’ll be just one of thousands of people who will walk up to 39.3 miles over two days, raising awareness promoting education.

In an official press release, Trion announced yesterday that the final Defiance beta weekend will take place on the weekend of March 22nd. The NDA (non-disclosure agreement) will also be dropped on March 22nd, which means that all sorts of news and reviews regarding the beta will begin to roll in starting at that time.
The exact dates of the beta vary upon which platform you’re testing Defiance on. Yep, that’s right– console gamers finally get a taste of Defiance during this event. Here are the exact dates for each platform:
PlayStation 3 North America: March 19th 8:00am PDT – March 25th 9:00p, PDT
PlayStation 3 Europe: March 20th 8:00am PDT – March 26th 9:00p, PDT
PC Global: March 22nd 9:00am PDT – March 24th 9:00pm PDT
Xbox 360 Global: March 25th 8:00am PDT – March 26th 9:00pm PDT
As you can see, the PC beta dates are from March 22nd to the 24th. PS3 testers get a few extra days.
Beta testers will be able to explore the Mt. Tam and Madera regions and take part in co-op battles on Angel Island and in the Cronkhite Bunker. The Freight yard and Observatory will also both open up to players wishing to taste a bit of competitive multiplayer PvP action.
All past beta participants and pre-orderers will gain access to this final beta weekend. If you haven’t received an email beta notification yet, make sure to register on the official Defiance site in order to receive beta news.

Update 3/14: New timetables listed.
This week, the good folks at Trion shared with us a video showing a number of weapons, their modifications, and just how lethal your new favorite gun can be. One major highlight for me is the Rocket Launcher with the Rebounder Cannon attachment/modification. As seen in the video, this combination allows the wielder of this powerhouse to fire a rocket into the air, which will subsequently air-burst and send a number of explosive rounds into the ground. Unknown at the time is whether or not the weapon will have the same effect if fired into a hard surface (i.e. a wall), but based on the name we are hoping this is the case.

In a post on the official Defiance website recently, Trion announced that Defiance is now available for Pre-order on Steam. There are three purchase options available, including one that’s not available anywhere else.
According to the Steam store, there are three purchase options available now. The first is the Standard Edition which includes a guaranteed beta invitation, a weapon, an outfit (bottom left), a 3-day experience boost, and an in-game title.
The second is the Deluxe Edition which provides all the benefits of the Standard Edition plus a much more impressive (in my opinion) armor set (bottom right), a rocket launcher, a shield, a 30-day experience boost, a 30-day scrip boost, extra inventory slots (5), a mystery lock box, a special color for a vehicle, and another title.
In an official press conference yesterday, Trion Worlds announced that they will be releasing a Defiance Season Pass that lets players save big on the first five planned DLC (downloadable content) packs that will be released after Defiance launches. The Defiance Season Pass will be available for $39.99, which should save Ark Hunters an extra 20% off the full price of all five DLC packs. What’s included in this packs? So far, the preliminary additions include a new playable alien species, new weapons and vehicles, missions, and rewards, plus two bonus items, an exclusive digital Hellbug combat cap and a Lock Box.
Once purchased, these packs will become active upon the game’s release. There will be a few items immediately available when the game launches, but most of the DLC content will unlock at a later time. The Defiance Season Pass is currently available for pre-purchase along with the game. For more information, see the official Defiance site as well as the press release regarding the announcement.
Scott Hartsman, one time head-man of RIFT, the man with apparently the best dressed photo of all devs on the planet, sat down to have a discussion with Forbes.com. Since RIFT’s launch, RIFT has gone from a full subscription game with no trial to having a Rift-Lite version where you can play the first 20 levels for free. Now that Scott has left Trion and rumors swirl around the internet that Rift is heading towards a full F2P model, we get a glimpse of the future og gaming subscriptions according to Mr. Hartsman.
