ישראל חוותה ניצחון מרשים באסיפה הכללית של האו”ם בדצמבר שנה שעברה כאשר לראשונה, תמכו 141 מדינות בהחלטה שיזמה בנושא "יזמות כאמצעי לפיתוח בעולם השלישי".

הצעת ההחלטה שהציגה מדינת ישראל באו"ם קוראת ל "ממשלות לנקוט בגישה ברורה ומתאימה לטיפוח יזמות" ודורשת לתת גישה לאמצעי מימון לאוכלוסיות שאין להן כיום גישה.

The Kol HaOt concept got its start at PresenTense, when JTS-trained rabbi, accomplished paper cut and scribal artist, Matt Berkowitz and Jewish educator Elyssa Moss Rabinowitz developed the idea as their fellowship project. The two joined forces with Yair Medina, a well-known photographer and graphic artist and Elyssa’s father, renowned Judaica artist David Moss.

The menu of programs now offered by Kol HaOt includes exploring artistic Passover haggadot; a havdalah study and paper-cutting session; a musical workshop on Hebrew song ; a journey into the Hebrew alphabet where participants create personalized letters based on their Hebrew names and a program following a visit to Yad Vashem where kids and adults can express their feelings artistically.  To date, more than 65 groups, including the Wexner Foundation, JTS Rabbinical Students and leaders of the Joint Distribution Committee have taken part in Kol HaOt activities.

The Leichtag Family Foundation announced a new partnership with PresenTense Israel and pledged $230,000 over two years to increase social entrepreneurship and innovation in underserved Jerusalem communities.

We envision Jerusalem rising again as a center of social activism and entrepreneurship. The city has become a hub for young people fighting to reclaim and renew the ancient Jerusalem – and we believe the intensity and diversity which many point to as a negative is actually the city’s foremost advantage.

“I was in my early 50s. My husband and I are Hebrew speakers – we are not tourists, but we’re not living here. I couldn’t find any framework or body or organization specifically working with North American professional adults who wanted to volunteer [in Israel] and use the skills they have,” said the Madison, Wisconsin, native.

So she created that organization.

When Rosalie Boxt was a young girl, she loved to sing. Her love for music led her to take up guitar, and later, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, make her way to Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion for a master's degree in sacred music and cantorial ordination. She is now the cantor for Temple Emanuel of Maryland, a Reform congregation in Kensington. Originally from St. Louis, Boxt lives in Rockville with her husband and two daughters. She was recently selected for the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington's 2012 ConnectGens Fellowship for her program Kesher Shir, which aims to bring together Jewish musicians to create new music for contemporary synagogue worship.
