Day 8 and 9 - It all comes full circle
Justin and Andrew’s Blog!
Hey there worried Jewish parents! This is Justin and Andrew reporting in for the final time from bright and sunny Israel (which is now actually bright and sunny).
Justin: I gave a speech earlier today that was described by many as “kinda funny,” so hopefully I will live up to that standard in this blog. But I’m not optimistic because I am tired and only getting tireder.
Day 7 - Masada? Dead Sea!
Thursday January 10, 2013
The first thought that entered my mind as I awoke this morning was that the rain had not stopped. The sound of wind and rain lashing at the Bedouin tent was a familiar sign of the rain that had accompanied our journey across Israel. Yet, when I stepped outside the tent, I immediately understood that the sounds outside were not our well-known friend the rain, but the swaying of the palm trees in a brisk wind.
Day 6- Yad Vashem and the Negev
A day of memorializing began with a visit to Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Museum. After watching an emotional video interviewing a Greek survivor, the group headed in the newly falling snow into the museum. There are dozens of rooms with millions of pieces of information zig zagging off of the central line, a deceptively straight shot from pre-Holocaust peace to the overlook of modern day Jerusalem. We could have stood there for days reading each plaque.
