Occasionally, files get corrupted during the download process. Delete the file that doesn't open, and download the data again. When downloading and extracting the data, check the path where you are saving the files and make sure that none of the folder names contain spaces or special characters. Geoprocessing error: 'Failed to execute'
Geoprocessing tools can fail to run if the folder names in the path where you save your data contain spaces or special characters. For example, you should not save the data to your "My Documents" folder because of the space in the name. If you saved your data to a folder with spaces or special characters, rename it or unzip the data to a new location. It's best to save the files to your C:\Temp or C:\Student folder. Tags: Exercise |

The link to the source data has been lost and ArcMap does not know where the data for that layer is stored.
