Dr. L. H. Newcomb, Professor Emeritus and former chair of the department, received the 2012 Ralph Davenport Mershon Award from the Ohio State University Alumni Association.

Dr. Robert Agunga, Associate Professor in ACEL, has been chosen to serve as Director of The Ohio State University's Center for African Studies.

The Smucker Leadership Scholars Fund, part of a $1 million gift to OSU, was donated by Smuckers Chairman of the Board, Tim Smucker. The Leadership Scholars Fund will support undergraduates from a variety of majors pursuing a minor in Leadership Studies in ACEL.

Ohio State's ACT Chapter won the John Deere National Chapter of the Year at the 2012 National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow conference held in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Agrisciece Education seniors Nicole Steinmetz and Suzie McMullen received 1st Place in the Social Science category at the 10th Annual CFAES Undergraduate Research Forum last month.

L. H. Newcomb Receives OSU Mershon Award

L. H. Newcomb, Professor Emeritus and former chair of the department, received the 2012 Ralph Davenport Mershon Award from the Ohio State University Alumni Association at its award ceremony on September 14. The Mershon Award is presented to alumni who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to The Ohio State University. Only two awards were given this year.

Agunga Named Director of OSU Center for African Studies

Dr. Robert Agunga, Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership has been named the Director of the OSU Center for African Studies (CAS).
