General Information
The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures will be hosting the Thirty-first Annual Foreign Languages and Literatures Days Event on Friday March 1, 2013. Over 400 Montana high school students and their teachers attend this event every year. This program is specifically designed to introduce Montana high school students to The University of Montana- Missoula campus and the Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures department. Students can choose from a wide selection of cultural and academic offerings involving eleven languages (Arabic, Chinese, Irish, French, German, Greek, Japanese, Latin, Italian, Russian, and Spanish), which include presentations on history, music, dance, cinema and art. Additional offerings include an introduction to computer and language lab resources, department-supported study abroad opportunities, and the Office of International Programs.
A highlight of the FLL Days program is the luncheon where students and teachers dine on an international menu where they are introduced to the Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures faculty and members of The University of Montana administration.
A primary goal of the FLL Days program is to introduce Montana high school students to college-level language classes. In addition, special presentations play a key role in emphasizing some of the cultural, study abroad and career opportunities available to foreign language majors and minors here at The University of Montana.
