ComputerCraft on The Shaft

Posted on by dan200

As part of the ongoing ComputerCraft media rampage, this weekend I had the pleasure of appearing on The Shaft podcast. I talked about ComputerCraft, Feed the Beast, and other assorted nonsenses, and dropped some hints about a couple of new features coming soon to the mod. Here’s a preview of one of them:

It was a good time, so check it out!

From what I see in the picture, I don’t understand how having a big grey wire going from the side of a monitor and connecting to a computer terminal counts as a “wireless monitor” =P

In fact, I’m thinking this might be the ethernet-like networking that dan200 was talking about in a previous podcast of The Shaft.

I think if there are Monitors connected with a cable(and the Monitor uses rednet),
there are the chance of getting a wireless monitor by using the Modem.
And the thing with the PDA:
          In the Podcast,Dan said
          something about PDAs
(but I don’t think he said PDA,
          he said something about iPhones…)
          Sorry for my bad english.
          I’m German.

I love it! Does it also work with printers? If it does, that means you don’t have to have one lump of things in one spot! You don’t even have ti have the computer in the wall next to the monitor anymore spacer .

Thanks for making computercraft such an awesome mod!

Or, you could use rednet to send the data to another computer below your printer, and print it like that spacer

new features mentioned in the podcast:
    ► iPhone -> something like a PDA
    ► more networking stuff:
    • Switches
    • Gateways
    • Ethernet or LAN stuff
    • better interfacing between computers and peripherals with modems

    ↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑↑
the accuracy of this list is really not reliable
