826 Boston is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write.

Our services are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention, and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.

Compete in our first-ever Spelling Bee for Cheaters!

spacer
spacer
Fundraising has kicked off for our first-ever Spelling Bee for Cheaters, a tournament of verbal smarts and fraudulence on Thursday, April 11th at Roxbury's Hibernian Hall! Register today to out-spell and out-cheat the competition and help raise $20,000 to support our free youth writing programs.

In the weeks leading up to the competition, participants register online and raise money to increase their chances of winning. We're offering a veritable menu of cheating options– some, needless to say, are pricier than others. The more money a team raises, the closer they are to winning.

Register your team today, or donate to a speller!

Join us at a meet-up to meet your competitors and practice for the bee!
  • Tuesday, March 26th – Mock spelling bee at The Lir (903 Boylston Street, Boston), 7 – 9 PM, free.
  • Tuesday, April 2nd – 826 wordsmiths take Somerville at Highland Kitchen (150 Highland Avenue, Somerville), 9 PM meet to register, 10 PM bee begins, free.
  • Thursday, April 11th – Spelling Bee for Cheaters at Hibernian Hall (184 Dudley Street, Boston), 7 – 10 PM, free for participants, $10 tickets for the public.

Thank You For Making 826 Boston's Year-End Campaign a Huge Success!

Thank you to those who donated as part of 826 Boston's end of the year giving campaign. With your help, we raised over $40,000 towards 826 Boston's programs to reach over 2,000 Boston Public School kids each year. And thanks to a very generous anonymous donor, all gifts made to 826 Boston during the campaign were matched!
