It’s simple. The Boiler is looking for great poetry. Poetry from those hungry writers with something to say. Poems that refuse to sit still on the tongue and in the mind. Poems that believe in risk and precision.

So send us 3 – 5 poems of your best work. We are excited to see what you and your words are up to.

Size limit: 2,500 words

The Boiler seeks fiction submissions that display commonalities in the human spirit which derive from an American ideal. Whether those commanalities display loss, defeat, triumph, humor, abandonment, fortitude, etc, at the Boiler, we pride ourselves on showcasing honesty within that human spirit. It's as if we want our readers to say, "God. I undertand wholeheartedly, but until I read that story, I was unable to put it into words." Duality of character comes to mind in the story's accompaniment, as does conflict and unique personality.

As well, something we feel makes The Boiler unique is our dedication to publishing works that aren't afraid to cross boundaries. It's very difficult to shock our readers, and yet we want to feel as if something strange had taken place on the page. However, we ask that the stories aren't written for shock alone, but within their strangeness, humanity shines. Happy writing.

Submit an unpublished piece of flash fiction, short story or story excerpt up to 2,500 words, double spaced and in Times New Roman. Unfortunetely not following these guidlines sometimes causes a work to be rejected before it reaches the editors. At The Boiler we take your work very seriously, and hope their authors see to proper formatting in order to display professsionalism to their readers. Good Luck, and thank you for submitting.

Here at The Boiler Journal, we understand the writing process is difficult. If it’s not, you’re doing it wrong. We are looking for honest, detailed truth that comes more from the heart than the head; stories about discovery, the unknown, the all-consuming, but above all, stories that, by the time we’re finished reading, we want to keep in our back pocket.

Pieces up to 2,500 words.
