Why “Greene Tea”?

Designing pages or writing code always involves a few bumps and sticking points along the way. Stepping away from work for a lovely cup of tea helps me take a fresh look at whatever I’m doing, and sometimes “see” the answer to a problem. Well, anything that gets a person moving is a refreshing change. Walking my dogs works too, but I couldn’t very well name the site “Dog Walking for Better Websites” when a shameless pun was available.

About me

spacer I’ve been making web pages since 1996, starting with a website for Ramsey Library, University of North Carolina at Asheville. It was wild and woolly in those days, but a great opportunity to learn new things. In late-May, 2000, I moved to Reno, Nevada, where I served as Web Development Librarian until the end of June 2008. While at UNR, I had a fantastic opportunity to add to my skills and develop new ones with ASP.Net and SQL Server, enterprise tools readily available to our “Microsoft campus.”

After some time away, I started creating websites for myself and others using WordPress and Dreamweaver. Although I no longer develop databases or sites with ASP.Net and SQL Server, everything I’ve done in the past has been a big help going forward.

Real Tea

I love tea, especially a good “Earl Grey, hot!” It’s a happy coincidence that some of the (Google Adsense) ads you see on this site are from the Republic of Tea. Their teas are among my top favorites, especially Earl Grayer, Ginger Peach, and green teas. I also love Twining’s Earl Gray and their (sadly discontinued) Vanilla Black Tea. Green tea is perfect for evening and both offer some nice varieties.

I even signed up for the Republic of Tea newsletter after seeing their ads on my site. Many of the Republic of Tea varieties are available at our local World Market store in Knoxville, but there are even more online. I love that their bagged tea is in just-right sized round sachets without any staples or string and are kept fresh in beautiful tins that don’t have to be put away in a cupboard.
