Brief Synopsis

An unscrupulous recording executive gives a hot young singer a shot at stardom.

Bud, a guitar-playing, motorcycle-riding hipster, travels to Hollywood in hopes of becoming a rock and roll star. He spends the last of his money in a cafe, where he meets Vicky, a dancer who persuades a recording company agent [Hal Kenton] to enter Bud in a television talent show when one of the contestants falls ill. An ambitious record company promoter [William Watters] "discovers" Bud and begins to exploit him by cheating him out of his rightful income. Bud eventually learns from a former protégé of the promoter [Bob Crumb] that he has been cheated, and he returns to the cafe to work as a dishwasher. He is abducted, brainwashed, and tricked, but Vicky and her younger brother rescue Bud and assist him in obtaining a fair contract.
