In the mid 80's Samuel Yates began the list of "Largest
Known Primes" and coined the name titanic prime
for any prime with 1,000 or more decimal digits. He also
called those who proved their primality titans.
Almost all primes are titanic primes, and tens of thousands of them are now "known". (But at the time Yates first defined titanic primes, very few were known.)
