We are delighted to tell you that we have been granted a five year extension of our licence by the Office of Communications. This will keep Soundart Radio 102.5fm on air 'til 2019. We want to thank everyone for all their support for the station so far...
Soundart Radio does not have an agenda for its own "concept" of what a work of radio-art should be, but a completely open minded approach that is completely in tune with the current cultural landscape outside of the mainstream media, and I believe that it is one of the most forward thinking cultural organisations in the world today... it stands alongside WFMU and Resonance FM as one of the three most important radio stations on the planet right now.

One of my particular favourites at the moment is an outfit called Soundart Radio from Totnes in Devon who are a community station. It seems to be a schedule packed full of local artists and they are redefining radio, no doubt about it.

We cannot think of another art institution that is so dedicated, ethical, pioneering, radical, sustainable, far reaching, exciting, contemporary, community building... we wanted you to know how valuable your work is and how much WE NEED YOU to keep doing what you are doing for artists and the listening public.

That's where Soundart Radio, a community and arts radio station for Dartington and Totnes in Devon, is so cheering: its setting couldn't be further from urban cool – you can often hear birdsong in the background – and yet its output is resolutely challenging. I've been hooked for quite a while, relishing its oddness, its risk-taking – anyone can volunteer for the station – and its blend of the highly local and impressively far-reaching.

Elizabeth Mahoney, The Guardian

Over the last year I’ve come to realise that my stay at Dartington was both inspirational and influential in most of the writing I do, so the amazing and unusal month I had with you guys is going to stay with me for a very long time! Soundart turned out to be a lot more important for me than I could have imagined at the beginning of last summer.

A space to listen, play and experiment

Community radio for the Totnes area!
Art radio for everywhere!

We invite everyone to make imaginative, innovative radio programmes and provide listeners with a real alternative. From beekeeping to live hoovering; from drum n'bass to morris dancing, our programmes reflect the interests and talents of the performers, writers, composers, music producers and journalists who volunteer at the station.

We welcome enquiries from anyone with a great idea for a radio programme, whether you have any experience or not.

We also work with many local schools and youth groups on sonic arts and radio projects.
