Master of Arts: Museum Studies
The Museum Studies graduate degree program offers a comprehensive curriculum that prepares you for real-world challenges involved in museum operation and allows you to solve problems from your own perspective.
Courses address museum management procedures, budget administration, exhibit and educational programming, and community interaction. Faculty members are drawn from museums across the country, including two AAM-accredited museums located at the University of Oklahoma – the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art.
As a museum professional, your drive to pursue and share knowledge is an ongoing journey.
The Master of Arts: Museum Studies is a 33-hour degree program completed 100% online.

The Journal of Museum Studies: Pioneering the Profession
Published by the University of Oklahoma College of Liberal Studies, the Journal of Museum Studies is an e-journal that serves as a publication outlet for students and faculty participating in the college’s museum studies program.
All articles are reviewed by the journal’s editorial board and, where required, by outside evaluators. All publications are published electronically and are available for download on the journal’s webpage.
Published articles deal with all areas of museum studies. Users of the articles are encouraged to circulate the publications on the web to as many interested parties as possible. All articles are copyrighted by the University of Oklahoma College of Liberal Studies.
The College of Liberal Studies Master of Arts: Museum Studies program is designed to accommodate working adults. When a student is admitted into the program – he/she is assigned an advisor who creates an individualized graduation plan. This plan will help organize and identify the courses necessary for completing the degree.
