Welcome to the Department of Statistical Sciences
Our mandate is to serve as a centre of excellence for statistical and actuarial research and education, across the campus, nationally and internationally. Our key strengths are the quality of our research in statistical science, the abilities of our undergraduate and graduate students, our programs in actuarial science and finance, our close ties to biostatisticians in the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, and the broad reach of statistical sciences across other disciplines.
We offer courses in actuarial science, probability theory, applied statistics, statistical computation and theoretical statistics. These courses are geared towards a variety of students seeking training in statistical and actuarial reasoning. In addition we actively promote professional designations for our students offered by the Society of Actuaries and the Statistical Society of Canada.
