2014 Red Sox Outlook

spacer Get your Boston Red Sox tickets today and get into Fenway Park!

In 2013, the Boston Red Sox went from worst to first, capturing the AL East crown before defeating the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS and the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series en route to the franchise's eighth World Series title. Last year, 2,833,333 fans made their way to Fenway Park to catch the Red Sox during the regular season, and that number figures to rise in 2014, as the Red Sox attempt to defend their World Series title. If you're a Red Sox fan, or just a baseball fan in general who wants to experience the Fenway atmosphere, don't delay -- buy your tickets to see the Red Sox today!

Boston general manager Ben Cherington did not rest on his laurels this offseason, and Boston's 2014 lineup will look different from the 2013 version. Cherington opted against re-signing Jacoby Ellsbury to a nine-figure deal, and Ellsbury instead signed with the New York Yankees. Ellsbury isn't the only member of the 2013 Red Sox that left, as Jarrod Saltalamacchia signed with the Miami Marlins. Stephen Drew, last year's starting shortstop, is not expected to return to Boston. Cherington signed veteran catcher A.J. Pierzynski, who spent the 2013 season with the Texas Rangers, to replace Saltalamacchia. The future of the Red Sox will be on display in 2014, as top prospects Xander Bogaerts and Jackie Bradley Jr. are likely to start for the Red Sox on opening day, replacing Ellsbury and Drew.

Red Sox fans should be particularly excited about watching the 21-year-old Bogaerts this year. Baseball America ranked the young shortstop as baseball's No. 2 prospect headed into the 2014 season, and the young phenom could be Boston's first long-term answer at shortstop since Nomar Garciaparra.Dan Symborski's ZiPS projections project Bogaerts to hit .267/.331/.429, with 16 home runs in 2014.

Franchise icons Dustin Pedroia and David Ortiz will be back in 2014 -- much to the delight of Red Sox fans everywhere. Mike Napoli, Daniel Nava, Shane Victorino and Will Middlebrooks project to round out Boston's potent lineup.

Boston's pitching staff will again be a strong point in 2014. Veterans Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, John Lackey and Jake Peavy will anchor the rotation, with Felix Doubront serving as the team's No. 5 starter. Assuming Buchholz, Peavy and Lackey stay healthy, the Red Sox will have one of the top pitching staffs in the American League this season.

2014 Red Sox Schedule

Perhaps no division in baseball is known for its rivalries more than the AL East. The Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays developed a rivalry in recent years -- and Boston's 2013 ALDS win over Tampa Bay added fuel to the fire. Boston fans haven't forgotten about 2011, when the Baltimore Orioles eliminated the Red Sox on the last day of the season, creating more tension between the two division rivals. Though the Blue Jays weren't a factor last season, it's expected that Toronto will compete for a playoff spot this year -- so you can expect the games between the Jays and Sox to heat up throughout 2014. Boston's rivalry with the Yankees intensified throughout the offseason, when the New York Yankees signed Jacoby Ellsbury away from the Red Sox. Sox fans will want to be sure to get out to Fenway Park this summer to watch Derek Jeter for one last time, as the future Hall of Famer announced that he will retire at the end of the 2014 season.

2014 Red Sox Interleague Schedule

In addition to taking on their AL East rivals, the Red Sox will make interleague trips this summer to some of the best baseball cities in the country. Don't miss your chance to see the defending World Series champions take on the Atlanta Braves this May, when the Red Sox head to Turner Field May 26 and May 27, before hosting the Braves May 28 and May 29. The Red Sox will play a pair of two-game series against the Cincinnati Reds this season, hosting the Reds May 6 and May 7, before headed to the Queen City August 12 and August 13. A World Series rematch could occur again in 2014 as both the Cardinals and Red Sox are among the favorites, but at the least, the Cardinals will host the Red Sox August 5, August 6 and August 7, in what is one of the most anticipated regular season matchups in baseball this season. Don't wait, be sure to buy your tickets to catch the Red Sox today!

About Fenway Park

Boston will continue to call Fenway Park home, as the Red Sox have since 1912. Historic Fenway Park is one of the best stadiums in baseball to catch a game at. Fenway Park's relatively small capacity of 37,499 ensures that there is no bad seat in the house -- and provides for one of the best baseball experiences. In addition to hosting the Red Sox, Fenway Park has hosted Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, The Police, Neil Diamond, Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake & Jay-Z and Aerosmith. This June, Billy Joel will add his name to that list when he plays Fenway Park.

The Red Seat

Many fans that buy Red Sox right field bleachers tickets for the first time are curious as to "The Red Seat," which stands apart from the other Red Sox bleachers which are green. This is another of the many icons that make Fenway Park America's most beloved ballpark. Well the Red Seat, in section 42, row 37, seat 21, is the site of the longest home run ever hit into the Red Sox bleachers, and it came courtesy of none other than Ted Williams, old Teddy Ballgame himself. The date was June 9, 1946 and the opponent was Fred Hutchinson of the Detroit Tigers. The ball traveled from Ted William's bat to a total distance of 502 feet. It's not unusual to see fans with Red Sox tickets crowd to the seat after the game for a photo opportunity with the Red Sox Red Seat. Keep it in mind next time you buy Red Sox bleacher seats!
