Internal Grants and Awards

Scholars’ Travel Program

The Scholars’ Travel Fund (STF) provides full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty with supplemental travel funds to support presentation of their research, scholarship, or creative activity; to serve as chairpersons; to participate as panelists; or to contribute in other appropriate manners at scholarly meetings in the USA, Mexico, or Canada. Faculty can apply for up to $500 per academic year (with a $250 match). Access application details and forms here.

The International Travel Fund provides faculty with supplemental travel funds to share their scholarship with audiences outside of North America. Faculty can apply to the International Program Office for this funding. Note: This fund is not administered by the Office of Research and Economic Development. Please contact the department administering these funds directly.

Subsidies in Support of Publication, Media Development, and Exhibitions

The Office of Research and Economic Development provides Publication and Exhibition Subsidies to supplement charges associated with publications of books, development of media, exhibition and performance charges, page charges for publishing manuscripts, and costs of reprints. Faculty can apply for up to $1,000 per academic year. Applications are due the last working day of October and February. Access application details and forms here.

Currently, there are more than 30,000 open access journals published worldwide, and in lieu of a subscription-based business model, many open access journals require that authors pay an article processing fee. The University Libraries and the Office of Research and Economic Development provide the Open Access Publishing Support Fund to support those who choose open access publishing as the best venue for their work. Full-time faculty, full-time EPA employees, and enrolled graduate students can apply to the University Libraries for this funding. Note: This fund is not administered by the Office of Research and Economic Development. Please contact the department administering these funds directly.
