Googling the future

Google is undeniably a force to be reckoned with. But will it really eliminate all spam, fuel the world with GoogOil, start a currency called Goobles, create an interplanetary internet and develop dolphin machine translation?

According to this tongue-in-cheek giant whiteboard plan it will do them all, and more. I find this quite funny - it's similar to the kind of ideas people seriously propose when trying to second guess the technology giant.

This recent set of hazy-but-earnest predictions about a future Google Operating System is a good example. Apple inspires similar speculation - like that about the hypothetical 'iPhone' that's apparently been around the corner for years.

Yet just today one Google executive announced that in twelve years an iPod could be able to hold all the video in the world. So maybe we can look forward to speaking with dolphins in the near future after all.
