One of the hottest new phones of the year is undoubtedly the Motorola-made Google Nexus 6. Its high-end specs and Android 5.0 preinstalled appeal to a great many folks, and we are thrilled to see our Nexus 6 section in the forums taking off so fast.

We plan to get a Nexus 6 in the office for a full hands-on preview and Q&A session on the new super-phablet. We want to find out what you folks would like to know the most regarding the next Nexus. We thought it would be cool and useful to get some direct feedback from you. That way, once we work up a full breakdown of the device, you can get a feel for it before you shell out your hard earned dollars, just in case you have a backup device in mind.

To that end, please post any and all questions you have about the Nexus 6 in this thread. Once we get our hands on one, we will fill out the Nexus 6 Q&A thread with all of the answers we can come up with. Your questions could be about anything: the general feel of the phone, any technical glitches, performance, battery life, or anything you can come up with.

We want to fill our hands-on Nexus 6 content with the highest volume of useful info for our members!

Sprint customers are getting treated to some great news this week. First they shared that their Nexus 6 will arrive in store this Friday, November 14th. Now they just announced that their Nexus 5 will start getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop video starting today (November 12th)!

As you can see from the above screen-grab, Sprint just announced build LRX21O for the Nexus 5, which includes an “upgrade to the new Android L Release.” The update will obviously push out in waves, so you may not get yours right away, but be patient as it should be coming soon.

Sprint Nexus 5 owners feel free to join me in a happy dance!

Google has a new standalone messenger app and it's now available in the Play Store!

Unlike Hangouts this app only does SMS. People have complained about using Hangouts for SMS but there wasn’t any official alternatives from Google until today. This app is a nice simple messaging app that has a clean material design and smooth animations.

Here is the full feature list.
  • Faster sharing: Select or take pictures and videos directly from the app and share easily. You can even send audio messages to your contacts.
  • Easy search: Search through contacts and conversation threads to find exactly what you are looking for.
  • Purposeful design: New, fluid, material design that is intuitive and delightful.
  • More control: Ability to block SMS senders. No interruptions when you don’t want them!
  • More features: audio messages, emoji support

Messenger is supported on devices running Android™ 4.1, Jelly Bean, and above.

It seems that Verizon wants to get in on the holiday spirit early and improve their image and profit margin at the same time. They just announced their own unique "one-of" holiday which will commence on November 26th. It's basically a one day opportunity to get some interesting gifts to keep you entertained and connected while traveling this holiday season. What's really intriguing is that you don't actually need to be a Verizon customer to take advantage of some of this:
  • Amazon: Selection of 10 free/discounted apps, plus two free Audible book downloads (new members) or $10 Audible credit (current members)
  • Apple: $4.99 credit toward any app store/iTunes purchase. (While supplies last)
  • Conde Nast: Free Digital Edition downloads of 17 Conde Nast Publications, including Wired, Vanity Fair andGQ
  • Free WiFi: 30-minute complimentary Internet sessions through Boingo Wireless (at airports) and Gogo Technologies (inflight)
  • JetBlue: Free internet for the duration flights between November 26th and December 24th.
  • Pandora Media: Free seven-day trial of Pandora One.
  • Verizon FiOS: Special mobile access to popular movies and TV shows from November 26 to December 1, compliments of Verizon FiOS, by downloading the free FiOS Preview app.

T-Mobile is Moving Their Nexus 6 Launch to November 19th

In a Tweet, shown above, T-Mobile shared they are moving their Nexus 6 launch to November 19th. According to reports, supply issues are the primary culprit in this mystery. Apparently T-Mobile wasn't able to secure enough of the device from Google and Motorola to satisfy their needs, so they need to slow things down while more Nexus 6 smartphones are actually made.

While this is disappointing to T-Mobile users who were planning on snapping up a Nexus 6, at least this is better than showing up at the store and not being able to get one...

Hot Off Topic Tech of the Day: Back to the Future DeLorean Flying Drone

Here's an awesome fantasy/life hack to brighten your Wednesday morning! YouTuber Native118 possessed the ingenuity, time and resources to build his own Back to the Future DeLorean! While his version doesn't actually travel through time, nor is it a full sized model, it does actually fly!

As you can see in the video, Native118's flying Back to the Future Delorean is actually based on a customized drone concept. To be clear, this video is actually from 2011, but perhaps it's time for it to shine in the spotlight again. Going back in time to share something that was so ahead of its time seems both relevant and apropos to the theme of the drone.

The video shares many of the details of his design, and walks us through much if the process and the specs, including its wood and Styrofoam frame, and a 2250mAh battery powering the drone. The device uses a MultiWii TURNIGY 2204-14G 19G Outrunner flight controller, and the speed controller is a HobbyKing 12A BlueSeries unit. Share your thoughts!

Sprint's Nexus 6 Will Be Available in Stores on Friday November 14th

This is an interesting development regarding the Nexus 6. The Sprint version of the device will actually be available in-stores and for online purchase this Friday (November 14th). To be clear, this is not a pre-order. While AT&T just announced preorder availability for their Nexus 6 starting today, you can't pick one up in stores yet.

Of course, if Sprint is getting it on the 14th, it's very likely that AT&T will probably start shipping out Nexus 6 devices to match that availability date. We can't say that for sure, but it's a solid guess. We suspect that Android 5.0 Lollipop will start officially rolling out OTA to Nexus devices around that same day.

We have included more details regarding Sprint's Nexus 6 launch this Friday in the thread below with a quote from their press release.

Samsung Countersues NVIDIA and NVIDIA Responds

Even though the patent wars have mostly died down over the past couple of years, that doesn't mean they will ever abate completely. The most recent high profile case kicked off in October and sees NVIDIA pitting itself against Samsung. As we reported previously, NVIDIA filed suit against Samsung and Qualcomm for patent infringement against several of NVIDIA's GPU patents.

The next move in that particular siege has just been made by Samsung. As is frequently the case in these matters, Samsung has filed a countersuit against NVIDIA, claiming "false advertising", and that they violated six of Samsung patents. Here's a quote describing the false advertising part of the suit,

Interestingly, Samsung threw Velocity Micro "under the bus" of this lawsuit as well, and is claiming they violated 8 of Samsung's patents, including the same 6 that they claim NVIDIA...
