Comme des Garçons Shirt Spring 2013

THE GENERIC MAN for COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT Spring 2013

We begin 2013 with the latest installment of The Generic Man's lauded, fashion-forward collaboration with Comme des Garçons SHIRT. As with previous collections, this one features three shoes from the Generic catalog that the two companies have redesigned in tandem. Together, the patterns and designs incorporated into the shoes―the Mohawk, the Wellington, and the Wing Tip―stylishly and artfully tell the story of spring's beginning, maturation and end with colors that move from muted to bright and summery.

The Mohawk―a mid-top which features three color-blocked sections, with the ankles being frayed at the bottom a la the quintessential moccasin―comes in two subdued colorways: one is eggshell blue, rusty red, and moss green, the other dusty beige, charcoal, and shamrock green. The Wellington embodies the middle of spring―when one finally packs away their boots and slips back into their kicks. This change in mood is articulated through the cartoony, whisical patterns printed on to the canvas tops. There are two equally bold designs: a pile of black and yellow word bubbles squished together and a jumble of bright blue hand-drawn numbers. Completing the collection is another sneaker-style shoe, the Wing Tip, which comes in two brilliant pastel palettes that are most commonly found in Easter egg baskets. The first, aquamarine blue, pistachio, and bubble gum pink; the second, royal yellow with sky and teal blue.

As it's come to be expected, The Generic Man and Comme des Garçons SHIRT excel at merging the carefree and fun with the starkly minimalist and utilitarian, a combination that pairs perfectly with any wardrobe, no matter what the sartorial sensibilities.
