Capitol Theater

spacer

The Capitol is a well known venue for musicals, theater and other events. In the middle of Düsseldorf, directly at the central station, the venue is very good to reach. The main hall holds up to 1.100 people and the so called "club" holds between 450 and 500 people, which makes this our first choice for the beyond tellerrand conference.

The foyer and the bar have a cosy and comfortable atmosphere. Good for networking in the breaks between the sessions. The foyer also is the place where our sponsors and partners will be located and they will love to talk to you while having a coffee.

Jacobihaus

spacer

The Jacobihaus is connected to the Malkasten in the city center of Düsseldorf. Access to the historical, eighteenth-century Jacobihaus is via a little bridge that crosses the Düssel Brook, through the inviting Entrée or Entrance Hall to the »Bibliothek« with its high, glazed inbuilt bookcases.

The Jacobihaus is the perfect space for our intensive workshops with Aaron Gustfason and Brad Frost in a lovely and very comfortable atmosphere.

Pre-Conference Warm-Up

We organized a pre-conference warm up for all of you again. Also for everybody who is not coming to beyond tellerrand, but wants to hang out with us. We are meeting around 7pm (19:00) in the Brewery "Zum Schlüssel", Bolkerstr. 41-47, Düsseldorf. Please confirm that you are taking part here, as we need the number of people coming to organize everything. Thanks!

Hotels

There are so many hotels around that area, that we can't list all of them. Unfortunately we also usually don't sleep in hotels in Düsseldorf, because we live near Düsseldorf. However, we decided to pick a few hotels that are told to be good and list them. We have chosen different types as everybody is looking for something different. If you don't like our four suggestions, feel free to check google for any hotel nearby.

Eat & Drink

If you don't like to walk a lot, you can of course use the cafe/bar connected to the venue called MONTANAROs. They serve really good food and drinks in a nice atmosphere.

If you arrive before Monday and you are looking for places to have a drink in the evening, we can recommend the ALTSTADT (the old city center) of Düsseldorf. But if you don't like traditional pubs there is plenty of nice bars near the conference venue. We listed a few of them below and you can find more tips on what you can do in Düsseldorf in our Düsseldorf Guide.

Travel Directions

By plane

Easiest is to land at Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) and take the train to ”Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof“. Then follow the description below (under traveling by train).

You can also land in Cologne (CGN) and use the train to get to ”Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof“. You have to change trains one time (either at ”Köln-Messe/Deutz“ or at "Köln Hbf“). The ride will take between 40 to 60 minutes, depending on your connection. If you need assistance in finding your connection, please use the website of the German Bahn to look up your connection.

Third possible airport is Frankfurt (FRA). Best connection from there to ”Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof“ just needs 1 hour 10 minutes with a direct connection. Please use the website of the German Bahn to find the best connection.

A hint from us: For the word ”Hauptbahnhof“ they often use the short term ”HBF“ on maps and schedules!

Traveling by train

The Capitol Theater, venue for the conference, is a 5 minute walk from ”Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof“, the central station of Düsseldorf. Use the exit called ”Konrad-Adenauer-Platz“ and keep right, until you reach the ”Worringer Platz“. From there turn right into the destination street called ”Erkrather Straße“. After the railway underpass, the Captiol Theater is located on the left side.
To reach the workshop venue, called Jacobihaus, which is connected to the Malkasten, you also arrive at ”Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof“. Use the exit called ”Konrad-Adenauer-Platz“ and take the tram number 707 (direction ”Unterrath“). The ride takes about 4 minutes until you reach the stop called ”Jacobistraße“. Cross the street in direction of the train and find the Malkasten and Jacobihaus in about 200m on your right side.

  • Website of Deutsche Bahn
  • Rail Europe

Parking

We have got a huge amount of parking places directly across the street of the Capitol Theater. Parking costs Euro 4 for the whole day (instead of around Euro 20 at the central station).

At the Jacobihaus only a few places for parking are available. Please use the available parking areas on the other street or one of the many car parks in the shopping area nearby. If you have questions where to find them, let us know and we will send you a small map with car parks.
