London Mayor Boris Johnson -- known affectionately as BoJo -- has signed up a team to act as his Digital Advisory Board for the capital.

The initiative follows the Mayor’s creation of the London Datastore, which put previously unavailable data from the Greater London Authority and London Boroughs online for use free of charge.

The team will be led by Anthony Browne, Johnson’s economic advisor. “We have begun the process off transforming the way in which information is shared between the government and the public and it has already paid huge dividends with some incredibly exciting new applications being developed at no cost to the public purse,” Brown said.

The new team will advise on projects including the London Datastore, WIFI London, The London Card and the proposed single non-emergency number for the capital.

    Board members include:

Professor Jonathan Raper -who has worked to bring the power of geospatial information to users for 20 years with Ordnance Survey, the Environment Agency and Royal Mail as well as insurance companies.

Emma Mulqueeny –a digital communication strategist who founded Rewired State. She has worked as a cosnutlant to the Cabinet Office, Foreign Office, Home Office, Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), Central Office of Information (COI) and HMRC.

Mike Butcher - editor of TechCrunch Europe.

Chris Taggart - developer behind OpenlyLocal.com a project that opens up local government data and now has in-depth information on over 150 councils across the UK.

Christopher Osborne -Business Development Director for ITO World, which provides transport intelligence for transport professionals and passengers.
