MakeIt Labs

DreamIt. LearnIt. MakeIt.

F.A.Q.

Is this thing real? How long have you guys been around?
Yes! We opened July 1st 2010 in Lowell, MA and re-opened July 2nd 2011 in Nashua, NH. MakeIt Labs is a registered NH non-profit, complete with a board of directors, a bank account, and all kinds of boring business related stuff that allow us to operate. This place is legit’. We’ve got a 6000 ft2 workshop in an old foundry building, plenty of tools and make sweet stuff, and lots of talented members. Come hang out with us!

Can I come visit?
Sure! Come by an Open House, every Thursday 6-9pm (and usually later). Just stop by and introduce yourself. If that doesn’t work for you, Contact us, and we’ll set up a time.

What tools do you guys have?
We’re constantly growing and adding new tools.  For now check out the equipment list.

I don’t know how to do something, will you teach me?
YES! Our members are happy to share their knowledge with each other and will gladly show you how to use our multitude of tools and equipment. Some equipment (expensive and/or dangerous) requires prior knowledge or mandatory training.

Do you offer formal Classes?
Yes, we offer classes on a variety of subjects.  Anyone is free to teach a class as well.  Instructors set the content, schedule, and costs, we provide the facilities and promotion. Check out the upcoming events and classes on our Eventbrite page.

If I sign up, what does that get me?
See the Membership page for details on the different levels of membership and their privileges. All levels grant various degrees of access to everything MakeIt has to offer. Tools, space, people to hang out with and learn with/from. We value our community as much as our equipment, and consider the people of MakeIt our greatest asset. When you join, we’ll give you your own RFID membership card that gives you access to the facility.

What are the operating hours?
Hours for the most part are 24/7, but certain levels of membership may have restrictions. Members get an RFID access card so that they can come and go as they please! There are certain safety rules, though. (like two people minimum when welding, machining, mandatory safety training, etc).  Certain areas may be unavailable during classes as well.

How much does this cost?
Pro Membership – $75/mo
Hobbyist Membership – $40/mo

See the Membership page for full details

How do I join?
The question you should be asking! Sign up here! If you’re still not sure, at least add yourself to the mailing list, or join the Facebook page (see on the right), so you can keep in the loop.
