MaRS Discovery Document
Here's how it works:
Step 1: Complete the MaRS Discovery Document (below)
Tell us about your venture and your current needs. You’ll need to provide information about your company, team, finances and market. We’ll also want to know what challenges you currently face and how you hope MaRS can help. It takes about 30 minutes to complete this form. Please review the links associated with each question to learn more about what we’re most interested in. We'll send an email confirmation to the email address provided as well as a copy of your submission. We’ll respond within five business days.
Note: Before you complete our Discovery Document, please review our eligibility criteria below to ensure your venture fits.
There is no ability to save your application midway, please take this into consideration.
Step 2: Discovery meeting
If you meet MaRS’ eligibility criteria, we’ll set up a meeting to review your business and goals. Based on your needs and the stage of your venture, we will work with you to develop a plan and identify resources to get you moving in the right direction.
Step 3: Engage and grow
Your plan will determine how you engage with MaRS over time. This might include connecting to educational resources and workshops, receiving access to market research or being paired with a business advisor.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for our services, your venture must be an early-stage organization that has developed an innovative technology, medical or social purpose solution. If you do not already operate in Ontario, your intention must be to own and operate your business here.
MaRS helps entrepreneurs bring new and innovative ideas to the marketplace. To be eligible for our services, please make sure your business fits with one of the following three sectors:
- Information & Communications Technology
- Health
- Cleantech
Note: Social innovation is recognized as an overarching area of focus at MaRS, given the growing number of MaRS ventures that identify a social purpose. If you are seeking venture services within one of the above sectors, and feel that an additional consultation with a member of our social innovation team would help advance your social mission, we encourage you to discuss this with your intake advisor.
Some ventures are outside the scope of eligibility for our services. Regretfully, we cannot support:
- Service providers (e.g., CROs, consultants, SR&ED agents)
- Publicly-traded companies
- Academic groups (please contact MaRS Innovation)
- Subsidiaries of foreign companies
- Importers
If you have any questions about your eligibility, please contact the MaRS Venture Services Associate for your sector.
