2014 Light Work Grants: Trevor Clement, Sebastian Collett, Dan Wetmore

Light Work is pleased to announce the 40th annual “Light Work Grants” exhibition, featuring the work of the 2014 Light Work Grant recipients: Trevor Clement, Sebastian Collett and Dan Wetmore. The exhibition will remain on view from August 18- December 17, 2014 in the Light Work Hallway Gallery at Light Work, located at 316 Waverly Ave in Syracuse, NY. A reception with the artists will be held on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 5-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. The Light Work Grants in Photography program is a part of Light Work’s ongoing effort to provide support and encouragement to artists working in photography. Established in 1975, it is one of the longest-running photography fellowship programs in the country.

Raymond Meeks: Where Objects Fall Away

Light Work is pleased to announce “Where Objects Fall Away,” an exhibition spanning the career of photographer and book artist Raymond Meeks. The exhibition is on view from Nov. 3-Dec. 17 in the Kathleen O. Ellis Gallery at Light Work, located at 316 Waverly Ave. in Syracuse, N.Y. Meeks will deliver a gallery talk on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 5p.m. A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on the same evening. All events are free and open to the public.

Sanford Biggers: "Shuffle" & Shake

Urban Video Project (UVP), a program of Light Work, is pleased to announce the exhibition of "Shuffle" and "Shake" by celebrated multimedia artist Sanford Biggers from November 6 – December 27, 2014. As part of the exhibition, Sanford Biggers will give an in-person artist talk on Tuesday, November 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Everson's Hosmer Auditorium, followed by a reception on the plaza. The talk and reception will be FREE & OPEN to the public. For the most up-to-date information on Sanford Biggers' artist talk, join the Facebook event! This exhibition marks the second installment of "Celestial Navigation: a year into the afro future", a year-long program of exhibitions and events at Urban Video Project and partner organizations that takes afrofuturism as its point of departure.

adjunct appendix: an Ad-hoc Exhibition of Work from Adjunct Faculty of the College of Visual and Performing Arts

Light Work Lab is pleased to announce “adjunct appendix: an ad-hoc exhibition of work from Adjunct Faculty of the College of Visual and Performing Arts,” curated by John Wesley Mannion and Jessica Posner on occasion of the “Conceal Reveal: New Work from the Faculty of the College of Visual and Performing Arts” exhibition at SUART Galleries. This ad hoc exhibition featuring two dimensional, video and digitally based art works will take place throughout Light Work Lab in various forms from Nov. 13-20. Unofficial Reception and Screenings: Thursday, Nov. 13, 5-7 p.m. Official Reception and Screenings: Thursday, Nov. 20, 5-8 p.m.
