They were each awarded thier special plaques, certificates, patches and other goodies to make them official Freinds of the Legion. Star Wars Artist Spencer Brinkerkhoff III isa Friend of the Legion, inducted at a ceremony at the 501st Legion dinner at SDCC on July 21st. The following night Rachel Kempster enthusaistically recieved her induction as a Freind of the Legion at the DK Publishing party at the Tipsy Cow in San Diego. Rachel has been instrumental in supporting the 501st Legion's Droid Hunt at SDCC for the last 5 years, and engineered a charity donation in the 501st Legion's name in the amount of $50,000.

The third inductee is Max Page, inducted on July 18th aboard the USS Midway floating museum. You may remember Max as the pint-sized Darth Vader from the recent Volkswagon Superbowl commercial. When Bad Guys Do Good
by Dewka on Mon Jul 25, 2011 7:33 pm
The 501st Legion is not only a Star Wars "bad guy" costuming organization, and if you have ever seen members of the 501st Legion walking in charity walks, they likely were not there just for a stroll in thier armor. Members of the Legion take part in all sorts of charity events around the world every week. From cancer and autism walks to blood drives and staffing telethon telephone lines, Members are "bad guys doing good" in thier communities.

The 501st Legion does not charge for appearances, but does assist charitable groups in gaining funds, and donations made in the name of the charity are welcomed. What better way to bring attention to your cause, than to have a few Stormtroopers lead by Darth Vader making the rounds, or running in a half marathon for charity? To date in 2011, the 501st Legion has assisted charities in raising over -3.4 million US Dollars, and 2011 still has five months left in the year. You can find out more abou the fundraising work of these armored men and women by vising the 501st Legions' charity page.

The 501st Legion supports San Diego Comic Con 2011
by Dewka on Thu Jul 21, 2011 5:34 pm
San Diego Comic Con is getting underway and the 501st Legion will once again be an integral part of the costumed characters seen there. San Diego Comic Con, or SDCC for short, is one of the largest multimedia convention and trade shows in the United States. Each year tens of thousands of people descend upon San Diego for this convention, where next year's blockbuster movies, new video game releases and action figure lines will be premiered.

If you are not able to make it to San Diego this year, fear not, because G4TV will be broadcasting live from the event, giving blast door-to blast door coverage and doing on the spot interviews with celebrities, game developers and perhaps your favorite Sith Lord.

by Dewka on Tue Jul 19, 2011 6:04 pm
The 501st Legion recognizes Troopers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty with the Trooper of the Month Award. Those Troopers who go all out for their love of Star Wars, the 501st Legion, their fellow Troopers and their local community are the recipients of this special award. Award winners typically strive for more than a screen accurate costume; they seek to embody the 501st Legion's Mission, by using their costumes, time and dedication to give back to the community through charitable acts and volunteer work.

Each month Members are nominated by their fellow Troopers from across the Legion and a selection is made. It can be tough to determine who will be awarded Trooper of the Month, since several deserving nominees may be submitted. Recent awardees including Valter Santos, TK 3738, Clint Gilbert,BH 3413, Matt Mills TX 5575 and Jamie Ladonski TK 2157, who in their own way have made the Legion, and their community, a better place.
