27 journalists, one per each EU member state, will have the opportunity to attend a two-day background briefing on the EU trade policies and the EU’s role as a global trade player. Held in Brussels on 14-15 March 2013, the event will give attending journalists an opportunity to meet Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht for a Q&A session. The attending participants will hear from and network with Brussels-based think tank experts and EU officials. The possibility to attend the press conference following the European Council summit is also foreseen. The journalists will also attend the release of the new report on Trade and Investment Barriers.

The event is organised by the European Journalism Centre, in cooperation with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Trade (DG TRADE).

Candidates with a background knowledge in international trade and economic policies will be given priority.
