National Association of Schools of Theatre

Welcome to the NAST web site.

NAST, founded in 1965, is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges and universities. It has approximately 182 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials.

Institutional Membership is gained only through the peer review process of accreditation. Individual Membership is available by application.

NAST provides information to potential students and parents, consultations, statistical information, professional development; and policy analysis.

NAST has an extensive publications program.

This web site is intended to provide general assistance regarding the operation of NAST including the accreditation process. Requests for further information may be directed to the National Office staff. NAST accepts no responsibility for the content of any information or web site attached to this site.

NEW EDITION OF NAST HANDBOOK PUBLISHED
December 16, 2014

An updated edition of the NAST Handbook 2014-15 is available online. It incorporates all revisions ratified by the NAST Membership, Board of Directors, and Commission on Accreditation during a special vote-by-email procedure concluded in November 2014. (Continue reading.)

NAST 2015 ANNUAL MEETING

The Association’s 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting will be held March 26-28, 2015 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, Louisiana.
