About LIU

Facts & Distinctions

spacer For nearly 90 years, Long Island University (LIU) has been dedicated to redefining higher education and empowering our students with the skills they needed to excel in the classroom and throughout their professional careers.

One of the nation’s largest comprehensive private universities, LIU offers more than 500 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs and certificates, and educates more than 20,000 students.

LIU’s experiential learning programs, its high-tech startup incubator, student-run businesses, and the LIU Promise student-mentoring program distinguish LIU as a leader in academic innovation. But the true testament to our success is in the active network of more than 200,000 alumni who are leaders in industries across the globe.

The institution provides enrichment for students and the community through world-class arts programming at Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts, and the nationally renowned George Polk Awards in journalism.
