Lucky Number – Ten

30.04.15

We are thrilled to announce that we will be holding a birthday party show to celebrate our 10th year as an independent record label at Village Underground, London on Thursday July 23rd. Featuring Darwin Deez, Oscar, and some very special guests associated with the label.

We are delighted to be able to celebrate our 10th anniversary in such style. Anybody who has seen a Darwin Deez live show can testify that he always presents an absolutely unique entertainment experience. He will no doubt be mixing choreographed dance moves as a backdrop to his hits, as well as debuting new material from his upcoming third album, news of which will be circulated soon.

Opening the night will be Oscar, the latest signing to our publishing arm, whose irresistible pop songs and rich baritone already look likely to fast track him from bedroom artist to superstar. We will also be announcing very special guests closer to the event.

Our aim is for an emotional and special night spent with our artists, fans of our artists, friends and family.

Tickets will go on sale tomorrow at 9am here and here (no booking).

FTSE – Blood On My Hands

30.04.15

‘Blood On My Hands’ will be released on 15th June 2015, and is the first track taken from FTSE’s anticipated debut album, due for release late this Summer.  Premiered on i_D who said “his brutally honest lyrics and anti-capitalist musings are self-deprecating anthems for modern society, topped with – as all the best things are – catchy poppy choruses”

FTSE is Sam Manville’s producer-artist-polemical guise, previously self-described as ‘one Man, one MPC, one cracked version of Logic and one blurred vision’.  Now, with Blood On My Hands, the vision is clear, a comment on the exploitation behind consumerism that is so rarely acknowledged (“silver, gold, gas, oil and coal / I got blood on my hands and all over my home”).

FTSE, with full band, will play London’s Electrowerkz on 26th May and Reading/Leeds Festival, Radio 1Xtra Stage across the August Bank holiday.  Tickets for Electrowerkz are available here.

Christian Rich – High feat Vince Staples and Bia

16.04.15

Christian Rich, AKA DJ and production duo and twin brothers Taiwo and Kehinde Hassan, today share ‘HIGH‘, a new collaboration featuring Vince Staples and Bia, who is newly into the Pharell/I Am Other crew. Thanks to Pitchfork for premiering the track.

The duo said themselves of the collaboration: “Ever since we came together on Earl Sweatshirt’s album Doris, we’ve been close with Vince. So we made this to expand on new sounds and ideas with him. It felt right to bring in Bia who is now a part of Pharrell, who is family to us.”

Christian Rich recently contributed to #1 Billboard albums for Drake, J Cole and Childish Gambino, as well as producing 4 tracks for Earl Sweatshirt‘s #1 Rap Billboard album, ‘Doris’.  They are also designers of clothing and have a sunglasses collab with LGR from Rome and are starting a new collab with Mark McNairy soon.

More exciting news will be coming shortly on their next official release.

Hinds + The Parrots – Split#1

10.03.15

We are delighted to announce a Record Store Day exclusive split covers 7” from close friends, and fellow Madrid based bands, Hinds and The Parrots.

Hinds have tackled Thee Headcoats cult classic, and their favored live set closer, “Davey Crockett (Gabba Hey)” which has been recorded and produced with Árni Árnason of the Vaccines. It was premiered tonight on Gorilla vs Bear. Whilst The Parrots take on “All My Loving”, a garage-gospel gem by The Almighty Defenders (King Khan and The Black Lips’ side project) and make it their own.

In their own words the two bands describe the connection between them as: “We are seven kids. We are friends. We are from Madrid. We always carry a knife in our pockets and we are a gang.”

More info on the release here .  Limited to 750 copies, pressed on Green Transparent Coloured Vinyl and only available in participating independent record stores on Saturday April 18th (Record Store Day) 2015.

Alex G – Trick / Rules

27.01.15

spacer We are thrilled to announce the release of both TRICK and RULES the latest albums to be released by the Philadelphia-based songwriter Alex Giannascoli, more commonly known as Alex G. Trick and Rules follow on the acclaimed heels of the November 2014 international release of Alex’s fifth album, DSU. Recorded prior to DSU and previously only available via Alex’s Bandcamp account, the albums have now been professionally mastered and are being made commercially available for the very first time.

Both albums are out on 6 April worldwide, on all formats (including beautiful heavyweight vinyl), and a new bonus track ,‘Sarah’, which was premiered on FADER, is streaming right now.

In their recent extensive profile, The FADER, wrote that Alex G is “the type of artist to make a person go all Garden State”, as anyone who attended Alex’s sold out London show last November would have witnessed.  An enrapt audience hushedly singing along word-by-word to album track ‘Change’ was one of many magical moments. Alex himself acknowledges that this song, like much of his repertoire, “resonates with a lot of people, probably because the lyrics deal with growing away from people you love […] something that everyone experiences.”

Trick features many of the fan favourites that Alex has been playing at shows recently, including the infectious off-kilter anthem ‘Forever’, the dreamy and surreal ‘Animals’ and the aforementioned, charmingly lo-fi ‘Change’. Trick is soaked in the distinctive personality that is Alex G; the professionally mastered versions of these tracks affirming that underneath all the unconventional guitar lines and scrawls of fuzz, Alex has a serious knack for melodic songwriting.

In addition,we are releasing Rules, Alex’s third album. Written and recorded just a few months before Trick, they both harbour a similar charm that makes it feel right for them to be released together.

Both Trick and Rules continue to showcase a prodigious song-writing talent, reaffirming that Alex G is one of the most promising and prolific American musicians today. Click on the releases tab to get more information and pre-order links.

Deers – now Hinds

07.01.15

Deers, from Madrid, have today announced that they have changed their name to Hinds, for legal reasons. Read a quote below from the band explaining the move.

“This is sadly the most official post we’ve ever made: We have to change our name.

We mean…they force us to. We received an email from a Canadian lawyer saying that our name created confusion with his band’s name. And that name is not even Deers (LOL). We tried our best, really, but we have no choice. So…

Okay!!! Let’s take this with a smile :-) !!!!

Deers are now…Hinds!

And we are still the same people, we are even the same animal! Unbelievable!! We don’t usually ask you guys for anything, but PLEASE you’d really make this easier for us if you shared this amazing info. Let’s have a super 2015!!
