Spiritual gifts

The origin of spiritual gift is from a Greek phrase charismata which means a gift of grace. They are different from natural talents like the ability to sing beautifully or draw wonderful pictures. According to Christians spiritual gifts are supernatural empowerment of various human qualities given by the Holy spirit for the purpose of doing God’s work of building the church.

There a number of spiritual gifts and below is a list of some of them

Apostle

Apostle which is a Greek word meaning one sent forth, is someone who helps in establishing and building the church. A person with this gift can be apart of all the spiritual gifts in the ministry since he lays the foundation of the church

Prophet

A Prophet which means to forth tell in Greek is one who spreads God’s word. In the ancient days prophets would predict the future as told to them by God. But now prophets only point out sin and speak out the message from the scriptures

Evangelist

This is one who goes out to the non believers and take to them the good news through various ways. It could be through music, preaching and many other ways to draw more people into the church. They are unusually bold and can face crowds of strangers to proclaim gods word

Pastors

A pastor is like a shepherd and gives up everything to lead his sheep. He spends all his time at the church listening, nurturing and guiding his people to lead a spiritual and Godly life. Pastors are practically married to the church

Administration

One with the gift of administration has the ability to properly organise and coordinate people for proceedings, activities and events and see them through up to the end.

Leadership

Somebody with the gift of leadership has a supernatural ability to head groups of people and lead by serving and a vision. People with this gift lead easily are are usually loved by the people they lead.

Faith

All believers have faith. But there are people who are blessed with the kind of faith that can move mountains. They have faith with a vision and can lead people into doing things that they originally thought impossible.

Healing

The ability to heal physical, emotional and spiritual sicknesses through the spirit.

Wisdom

Somebody with the gift of wisdom has the ability to make wise decisions and choices in various situations. There are also the gifts of Knowledge, mercy, hospitality, giving, speaking in tongues, the ability to perform miracles like bring a dead person back to life, the gift of giving encouragement to others and so on.

God gave everyone a spiritual gift many people however, don’t use them because they don’t know them. To find what your spiritual gift is, you should identify that thing that you do so easily and so well with enjoyment and see if you can use it to change somebody else’s life positively. In most cases, your gift will work hand in hand with your talent. No spiritual gift is greater that the other, they are all needed to work together to serve the greater purpose of spreading God’s love.
