    Asylum Restaurant

    Asylum Restaurant
200 Hill Street (Inside the Grand Hotel)
    (928) 639-3197
In need of refreshment, we found the hotel’s restaurant, the Asylum, and were impressed by the classy digs – and even more by the menu. It’s the type of restaurant Jerome has lacked. The name led us to expect a typical jeans-shorts type of deli and pasta place. But the views were unbeatable, and the food was on par with some of the better restaurants in Phoenix. We stayed for about five hours, enjoying conversation and Cosmopolitans on the patio, feasting on giant crab legs, lobster and creamy squash soup, and sampling one of the most extensive wine lists we’d seen. “We just won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence,” said Paula Woolsey, owner of the Asylum. The magazine named the Asylum as one of the top restaurants in the world for wine lovers; 2,800 restaurants worldwide made the cut.
