The goals of the Community Leadership Team (CLT) for 2013 are published below.

Goal A: Launch Joomla Volunteers portal

In 2013 we are are planning to launch a new Joomla Volunteers portal to make it easier to contribute to the Joomla community and track the progress of projects that people are working on. Part of this idea is to create a public marketplace to match skills, interests and available time of volunteers with the available project tasks. This also allows to thank the people involved within the Joomla project.

Goal B: Update community.joomla.org

The community.joomla.org site is using Joomla 1.5 and needs to be migrated to a recent Joomla version. Together with this migration the content needs to be reorganized and improved. The website should provide a complete overview of all news available around the Joomla project.

Goal C: Update extensions.joomla.org

The Joomla Extensions Directory (JED) has grown a lot over the past years and the current structure doesn't fulfill all the needs anymore. In 2013, we are planning to release a new version of the JED with improvements for the end users, listing owners and the JED maintainers. This new version will be custom made to match the needs of the JED. The JED team started to work on this already.

Goal D: Update resources.joomla.org

The Joomla Resource Directory (JRD) is using Joomla 1.5 and should be migrated to a recent Joomla version, and other improvements are needed as well. A recently formed new JRD team will start working on these improvements soon.

Goal E: Update template and menu system across all official Joomla sites

Many of the official Joomla sites are separated Joomla installations with their own template and menu. Updates to the template and main menu have to be made to all sites and are time-consuming. Together with an update of the current template we are planning to use one base template and main menu that is being used across all official Joomla sites.

Goal F: Launch templates.joomla.org

In the first half of 2013 the Joomla Template Directory (JTD) will be launched and a team to maintain the JTD will be established as well.

Goal G: Improve internationalization of joomla.org

At the moment the main language of joomla.org is English. This year we will start supporting other languages on the main Joomla website. People will be able to browse the information about the Joomla project in other languages and the website will guide people to the right areas for support in their language.

Goal H: Increase the number of Joomla User Groups

In 2013, we would like to see an increase of the number of Joomla User Groups (JUG) around the world. To establish that the current JUG approval process and communication will be reviewed and improved. A welcome package for JUG’s will be created and new ways to support JUG’s will be elaborated.

Next steps

Work on some of the goals above already started. For several other goals working groups are being formed and additional communication around specific goals will follow.

Meanwhile we invite the community to provide feedback on the goals in the forum: forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=704&t=794481
