   i am desperate to get a copy of Horrie the wog-Dog for my aunty’s 80th
   birthday. my father had a copy but it got destroyed in a fire. please let me know where we can get a copy & how much it will be.

   Please refer to info under “Frequently Asked Questions” on the page delarue.net/idriess.htm. There is a link to abebooks, which I have found is the best way to track down used books. You may also have some luck looking at amazon.com as well.

   I have recently started an IT related contract at Telstra.
   I note your past efforts and the closure of your specific unit.

   Specifically in the areas I am associated with, there is little or no approach to KM. But I do see an understanding of the need for a KM approach, even if there is no move to actually commit to it.

   I was thinking of pushing as much as I can by subversion…:)

   Hi Keith

   You have done a great deal of work bringing all the Ion Idriess books and ideas together. I am hoping you might know how to help me find who currently holds the rights to these works? I have tried going through the publishers and they have shut down and have no ongoing contacts that are easily traceable. We are looking to produce a short film based on his diaries and need to acquire non exclusive rights to one of the works.

   Good morning,

   I am writing to you to request help with the identifying of a possible 1st edition of “The Gremlins” by Roald Dahl. The book I have is in very good condition with a dust cover in poor condition. I know very little about collectable books so I need all the help I can get.

   I don’t think it is a first edition as it does not read “First Edition”. It does not however in any way seem to indicate that it is a re-printing or secomdary edition. I am attaching a photo of the copyright page.

   Any help you or any other experts can provide would be much appreciated. Times are tight, and since my family does not collect books or Disney, I will be selling it – hopefully to someone who will actually enjoy it. Do you also help with that service? Thank you! -David

   David –

   It’s definitely a first edition. With the exception of the recent (and very clearly marked) facsimile edition, there was only ever the one edition. See the link on my page (delarue.net/gremlins.htm) to Kris Howard’s Gremlin page (www.roalddahlfans.com/books/grem.php) – she gives a bit more detail. Kris suggests a price of $250 to $500 (USD), depending on condition. (It looks quite good to me from your photos!)

   I don’t sell books myself – I suggest you either find a rare book seller that will offer a fair price, or try eBay.

    I am trying to find information about Garnet Aitchison. Apart from finding he enlisted in the Australian Light Horse in 1914 and returning in 1918, I can find nothing.

    Some More Trivia

    In one scene Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner are walking down the street, and a group of kids on bikes cycle past (haven’t seen the movie recently so don’t know exactly where it is).

    The story is that the kids had heard Peck and Gardner were doing a scene locally and they decided to go down to watch. Apparently the director, on the spur of the moment, decided that having the kids ride past Peck and Gardner would add a nice touch for the scene. Each of the kids got paid 10 pounds for appearing in the movie (quite a lot of money in those days).

    I know this detail as my aunt was one of those kids – she’s the one with straight, shoulder-length blond hair.
