About Graduate Parent Support

We understand that it is challenging to be both a graduate student and a parent. It can be extremely demanding to successfully balance studying for a graduate degree and raising children, but it can also be very rewarding.

GPS is a new program initiated in the fall of 2009 by the University of Alabama’s Graduate School that aims to serve graduate students who have children. GPS works in conjunction with the new Undergraduate Parent Support program launched in the fall of 2009 by UA’s Student Services.

Mission Statement:

The goal of the GPS program is to provide an innovative and accessible academic, social, and emotional support system for graduate students who have children.
