Replacement Food Stamps
Were Any of Your SNAP (Food Stamps) Purchases Lost Because of Hurricane Sandy?
YOU CAN GET THOSE BENEFITS REPLACED, BUT YOU MUST ACT QUICKLY!
You can receive replacement SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits for the cost of food lost due to:
● Flooding
● Extended power outages or equipment (refrigerator/freezer) failures
● Dislocation (evacuation) due to an emergency leading to an inability to access food
All requests for Food Stamp replacement benefits must be reported within 10 days after the loss occurred. Report your loss at your local HRA Food Stamp Center or contact the Food Bank For New York City for more information at (917) 304-9634

MOST OF THESE LOSSES CAN AND WILL BE REPLACED, BUT YOU MAY NEED TO ACT
NYC residents receiving SNAP (food stamp) benefits, residing in one of the 82 zip codes listed here, and who have not yet received replacement benefits:
- Will automatically receive 50% of your regular monthly benefit amount on your EBT account as replacement for your food losses
- If you lost more than 50% of the food purchased with your SNAP benefits, and wish to replace those loses as well, you must report your loss at your local HRA Food Stamp Center. For assistance please contact the Food Bank For New York City at (212) 894-8060.
For NYC residents residing in other zip codes:
You can receive replacement SNAP (Food Stamp) benefits for the cost of food purchased with those benefits and lost due to:
- Flooding
- Extended power outages or equipment (refrigerator/freezer) failures
- Dislocation (evacuation) due to an emergency, leading to an inability to access food.
To receive replacement benefits for any of these reasons, you must report the loss to your local HRA Food Stamp Center by November 28th. You can contact the Food Bank For New York City for assistance at (212) 894-8060.
