GNU LibreDWG is a free C library to handle DWG files. It aims to be a free replacement for the OpenDWG libraries. DWG is the native file format of AutoCAD.

GNU LibreDWG is based on LibDWG, originally written by Felipe Castro.

Downloading LibreDWG

LibreDWG is in alpha development stage. There are no binary releases yet. Follow these instructions to retrieve the latest source code from Savannah.

Mailing lists and updates

GNU LibreDWG has a development and general discussion mailing list: <libredwg@gnu.org>. You can subscribe through the web interface. This is the main discussion list, and is used to discuss most aspects of LibreDWG, including development, enhancement requests and bug reports.

Announcements about LibreDWG are made on <info-libredwg@gnu.org>.

To subscribe to these or any GNU mailing lists, please send an empty mail with a Subject: header of just subscribe to the relevant -request list. For example, to subscribe yourself to the GNU announcement list, you would send mail to <info-gnu-request@gnu.org>. Or you can use the mailing list web interface.

News are posted on the news section at Savannah. Click here to sign the Atom feed. Developers usually post updates on their work at the identi.ca group.

Getting involved

Development of LibreDWG, and GNU in general, is a volunteer effort, and you can contribute. For information, please read How to help GNU. If you'd like to get involved, it's a good idea to join the discussion mailing list (see above). If you want to contribute to our project, check the LibreDWG hackers' wiki, with checkout and build instructions, before diving into source code.
