Renee offers coaching to encourage your family on your adventurous learning journey, to offer practical solutions and ideas for making your home education ideals a reality.

A mother of three children, ages 15, 13 and 11, Renee has nearly nine years of homeschooling experience, not including the at-home preschool years. With a Bachelor's Degree in Education and years of reading, research and application she is familiar with diverse educational philosophies and individual learning styles.

Renee's homeschool coaching is not just about experience and qualifications though, it's about heart. A heart's desire to help you homeschool. Renee is passionate about interest-led, lifelong learning. Organized, experienced, and enthusiastic, Renee is uniquely skilled at helping families create at-home learning environments, where everyone, including mom, flourishes.

Before the coaching session with Renee I had a lot of doubts about our homeschooling journey. Moving from traditional homeschooling to a more relaxed joyful way of life was a daily struggle, but just a few weeks after those 60 minutes of conversation, I am OK with letting go.

The difference Renee makes is that she lives this life everyday. By reading her blog and listening to her words of encouragement I find that it is an attitude that she imparts. An attitude that gives the confidence to live our own lives. Fully. Not necessarily breaking the rules - but making your own flexible ones according to the life God has gifted us and our family. A Unique Perspective

The Tougas family homeschool practice is an eclectic mix influenced by Charlotte Mason, unschooling, Waldorf, and Leadership Education philosophies. We are interest-led, family-focused, project-learning, literature, nature, and experience based learners. (There is no easy word to describe all that.) 

Renee's homeschool guidance and advice leans to less formal instruction in the early years, with increasing learner-initiated academics and responsibility as children grow into young adults. 

For many years we lived in a homeschool-friendly community, rich in resources and support. To follow our family dreams we left that area and now live in a beautiful mountain home, surrounded by nature, unfortunately without homeschool support or even good library service. Renee's experience with both these environments provides her a unique perspective in offering support and creative homeschooling solutions for your situation. 

If you have a desire to bring your children home but don't know where to start, are stuck in a rut with your current homeschooling routine and want to create an inspiring learning environment, or simply need support for this journey called homeschooling - Renee would love to work with you, to help you discover the joy for yourself in learning, living, and growing together.

What you can expect

Things Renee doesn't do:

• research homeschool laws in your area and discuss legal issues - in and of themselves (she can help you with ideas of how to home educate according to your philosophy within the system you live in, but you have to be familiar with "the system")
• tell you definitively what philosophy you should follow and curriculum to buy
• offer experience-based guidance for the high school years (she is living these years herself right now and can offer support for your goals, in theory only)

Renee is skilled at providing:

• creative, strategic and family friendly ideas to encourage you right where you are at in your homeschool journey
• curriculum, resource and everyday learning ideas based on your needs and goals
• general ideas, personal experience, and inspiration for frustrations and problems you may be facing in the elementary and middle school years

While wading through an endless sea of websites and books about homeschooling, I was so relieved to find Renee Tougas - her distinctive voice was a beacon in the fog. After devouring each and every FIMBY post on the subject, I knew that I could trust her instinctive, inspired and highly practical approach to homeschooling.

I provided Renee with a brief overview of my homeschooling (and parenting) goals along with a list of questions. From that small amount of information, Renee came to our coaching session prepared with four pages of highly organized notes. Cost

The fee for a one hour coaching session is $55, and includes a free audio recording of your session.

Coaching sessions are arranged for a mutually agreeable time and date and are facilitated via Skype or regular phone service.
